 Class Information

Date: July 28th, 2024

Time: 5:00 - 7:30

Location: Fire of the Heart Gallery at Greenbank Farm on Whidbey Island

This is an in person DIY art class.

At the end of this class you will have created a beautiful sunflower with a leaf for a blue glass vase (included).

Using premium Italian crepe paper, your instructors will walk you through how to pick colors for your flower, how to form the center and petals of your flower and how to finish your flower. The paper we use is brightly colored, and a unique and dynamic material that is very forgiving to work with. It easily cuts with scissors, it's sturdy, and it holds it's shape beautifully making it the perfect material for this project.

You will learn techniques for working with this material and for composing a finished sunflower. You will learn how to create a center for your flower, how petal shape and width with influence the final look of your flower. You will then learn how to finish the underside of your flower and how to create a leaf and attach it to the stem. You can then finish the stem for a final presentation, and put it in the provided blue vase.

She recently returned, with her family, from South Africa where she lived for over 13 years. She is an accomplished mosaic artist who also helps me run the gallery.
