Class Information

Location: Fire of the Heart Gallery at Greenbank Farm on Whidbey Island

This is an in person DIY art class.

At the end of class you will have created a person or pet portrait to take home with you. Working from a photo sent ahead of class, you will use a variety of collage materials to form a composition based on your photo inspiration. 

Your instructor will teach photo outline transfer techniques, shading and composition techniques. She will walk you through working with textures, colors and different printed papers. The variety of materials used is up to your discretion, and the outcome can be as precise or abstract as you want it to be.

Instructor

Sarah Showell is the instructor for this class. She is an outgoing and charming artist who grew up on Whidbey island. She has a great sense of humor and has taught classes all over the world. She recently returned, with her family, from South Africa where she lived for over 13 years. She is an accomplished mosaic artist who also helps run the gallery. Stop by the gallery to say hello, she would be happy to answer any questions you might have about the class or the gallery.

Class Details 

3 hours, beginner level class, no experience necessary

Ages 12+ Years - minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Class Price includes all materials and tools. 

Light refreshments and drinks will be provided.
