 Class Information

Date: July 14th, 2024

Time: 5:00 - 7:30

Location: Fire of the Heart Gallery at Greenbank Farm on Whidbey Island

This is an in person class.

At the end of this class you will have created a bold and beautiful flower with a leaf for a glass vase (included).

You will use premium Italian crepe paper to make your flower. This paper is brightly colored, and a unique and dynamic material that is very forgiving to work with. It easily cuts with scissors, it's sturdy, and it holds it's shape beautifully making it the perfect material for this project.

You will learn techniques for working with this material and for composing a finished flower. You will learn how to create a center for your flower, how to use petal shape and design to make different looks for your flower. You will then learn how to finish the underside of your flower, how to create a leaf and attach it to the stem. You can then finish the stem for a final presentation, and put it in a vase.

Instructor

Sarah Showell is the instructor for this class. She is an outgoing and charming artist who grew up on Whidbey island. She has a great sense of humor and has taught classes all over the world. She recently returned, with her family, from South Africa where she lived for over 13 years. She is an accomplished mosaic artist who also helps me run the gallery. Stop by the gallery to say hello, she would be happy to answer any questions you might have about the class or the gallery.
